Bio

My name is Rich Denhart and I have been a music industry professional for over 30 years, working in 48 states and 26 different countries. Starting out as a band member and touring the U.S., I moved to front of house mixing and recording engineering in 1980. After retiring from the road, for the next 11 years I served as A & R Director for Virgin Records and EMI labels Narada, BackView page Porch, and Narada Jazz. I have worked for or with such artists as David Bowie, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Chuck Berry, The Subdudes, Ramsey Lewis, Champaign, New Edition, Tony Levin, Lila Downs, Frank Black, The Bodeans, Dr. John, George Thorogood, John Hammond, The Talking Heads members, George Massenburg, Sunny Terry and Brownie McGee, Gatemouth Brown, Airto, Flora Purim, and many others.

In 2006 EMI closed our offices and after a brief stint as an artist manager I begin teaching at Madison Media Institute. I am currently Program Chair of the Entertainment and Media Business Bachelor of Arts, degree completion program. I find that the previous years of experience working in various capacities have provided me with a unique set of tools that serve me well as an educator and facilitator.

As I continue my journey through the entertainment industry I find it satisfying and inspiring to interact with the next generation of entertainment industry professionals  and as a bonus  grow as an educator and facilitator.
