Online Teaching Philosophy

The essence of my philosophy as an educator and e-learning facilitator is built around the foundation of engagement, community and learning outcomes. To succeed the student needs to engage or connect with something… be it subject, their fellow students, their instructor or hopefully ‘all of the above’.  Community and collaboration provide a richer more dynamic learning experience, context, utility and real learning outcomes as opposed to hoops the student jumps through.

I look at learning as a three-legged stool consisting of:

  • Learning outcomes and objectives
  • Content and delivery
  • Assessment and evaluation.

I believe for an online course to be most effective it must consist of all three of the above elements.

I made the transition from a music industry professional to an educator in 2006 and am pleased with the renewed passion for my work. I enjoy using my past experience to assist those who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of entertainment and media. I am fortunate to be assisted by a faculty that is passionate and as interested in learning as their students.
